His Reality Check in the Real Estate Industry… We’ve all seen him, quiet, calm and UNscripted…
"SO TELL ME OT, WHO ARE YOU? AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A REALTOR?"
(OT): Well most people don’t know that I’ve been in the Real Estate business for 23yrs, and like everyone else I started out with big dreams and hopes of getting rich.
With a friendly smile, he leaned back in his chair, sunglasses placed on top of his head, he shuffled a stack of freshly ordered business cards that he’d been holding, and in plain honest OT fashion says… THEN I GOT A REALITY CHECK!
"SO WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?"
(OT): NO MONEY!!!, I had a family to support, and I made mistakes. I became relaxed, I thought that when I had that ONE or even TWO deals, I was successful, that when I cashed those one or two 10K checks “I was GOOD”, I could take it easy, WRONG. I saw immediately that it was up to me to fix this, no excuses. How? I would start by changing my mindset, and I began to put GOALS into place for myself, each time I achieved one, I replaced one with a new goal, waiting for someone else to give me business or leads was not part of the game plan.
TO BECOME A TOP PRODUCER YOU HAVE TO FOCUS ON GROWING YOUR OWN BUSINESS... IT'S A SIMPLE CONCEPT.
“For me it’s all about the Pipeline – the Pipeline is only as good as you are”
If you have 8 deals… you should have 10-12 (until the deal closes it’s just a piece of paper, every deal counts, you have to stay motivated, you have to stay hungry nothing is guaranteed in this business, except your level of commitment).
I’m working 7 days a week, doing open houses, 12-14 hours a day, staying consistent and preparing for what’s next. As we speak I’m preparing for this upcoming Spring Market. Sometimes that means coming into the office on a Saturday, we can’t fall into the same patterns of NO HUSTLE, NO STRIVE. Everything has to have a balance and I’m especially mindful of that when it comes to quality of life and time well spent with my Family, this is non negotiable.
Market yourself, and Branding yourself is extremely important, now with social media it’s easy to do this, and foolish not to.
"OT" ON TECH
Look I’m from an era where we didn’t even have navigation … we stopped into a gas station to ask for directions. I like that I still write my own contracts, I think I might even be faster than the computer. Technology at ROGL is great, in general I send myself reminders, It helps to keep me organized, easily manage my transactions and stay connected to my clients.
WHY IS ROG LEGEND YOUR CHOICE?
Most important thing for me is, I like being able to come into an office environment everyday, that allows me to be who I am 100%.
And second working with a Broker who offers support and provides that type of working relationship is KEY.
